Jordi Labs proudly sponsored and presented at the Extractables, Leachables and Elemental Impurities 2017 conference, held by PharmaEd Resources, Inc. on March 6 and 7, 2017 at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia. Jordi Labs is a recognized leader in Extractables & Leachables (E&L) testing for biopharmaceuticals.

At the event, Dr. Mark Jordi, President of Jordi Labs, and Smriti Khera, Global Marketing Manager of Agilent Technologies presented to the biopharmaceutical community on the importance of the analysis of extractable and leachable compounds (E&L) from components employed in the storage or manufacture of biopharmaceuticals. Recent emphasis by the FDA as well as several high-profile incidents have raised awareness of the need for this information. The advent of single use bioprocess systems has introduced a new potential source for E&L’s as these systems are often comprised of polymeric materials.

As part of their discussion, the pair presented an example analysis on a single use bioprocess system and use this case study to demonstrate an LC/MS and GC/MS software workflow for analysis of E&L’s. This workflow allows for the fast identification of E&L’s as well as rapid comparisons between samples.
